Promotion of diversity, anti-discrimination, inclusion and equal opportunities at workplace is the purpose of more than 7100 petitioners from 16 EU countries who joined the initiative of the Diversity Charter. This will be soon possible in our country as well, since the text of the Diversity Charter in Croatia has already been defined and adopted. Deputy Ombudswoman, Tena Šimonović Einwalter, participated in preparation and presentation of the Charter which took place on 6th September 2017 at the Journalist House in Zagreb.
By signing the Charter, a document which is individually designed in each country, numerous big, small and medium enterprises, NGOs, public institutions, business associations, academic institutions and similar, pledge themselves to support, protect and develop diversity in their organisation’s values.
In 2010, European commission created a Platform for the European Diversity Charters aiming at supporting the development and exchange of best practices among member states, according to the EU priorities – anti-discrimination and equal opportunities. All state documents are basic source of inspiration for the diversity management even beyond existent legal frameworks and enable signatories to access the tools for implementation of the diversity policies, best practices and other resources and instruments developed by the European Platform of Diversity.
The project carrier in Croatia is the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development – HR PSOR.
