The UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health, Dainius Pūras, met with Deputy Ombudswoman Tena Šimonović Einwalter and advisers at the Office of the Ombudswoman on 29 November in Zagreb. The Ombudswoman for Childre Ivana Milas Klarić, the Ombudswoman for persons with disabilities Anka Slonjšak and the representative of the Office of the Ombudwoman for gender equality participated in the meeting, along with their associates.
During the meeting, the Special Rapporteur Pūras presented the scope of his work, and got aquanted with the activities of the ombuds offices in Croatia in regards to the right of health, including the issues noted and the recommendations sent to the authorities.
The Special Rapporteur will stay in Croatia until 6 December 2016, in order to assess the realization of the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health in the country. The comprehensive report on his mission to Croatia will be presented to the UN Human Rights Council in June 2017.
