The Festival of Tolerance is a unique cultural and educational platform that, through a rich program of film screenings, educational and film workshops, discussions, and similar activities, provides education on social issues while promoting a culture of nonviolence, democracy, tolerance, and inclusion.

As part of this year’s festival, on 13 October 2023 at the CineStar Branimir Centre, a screening was held of the documentary film Midnight Traveler by director Hassan Fazili, which portrays his escape from Afghanistan with his family due to Taliban threats and their difficult migration journey to Europe.

The screening was intended for high school students, and a discussion followed on the topic of migrants and the challenges they face.

Participants in the discussion included: Jan Kapić, spokesperson for UNHCR Croatia; Sister Meri Muše, representative of the Jesuit Refugee Service; student Nagham Oufan, a refugee from Syria; and Monika Čavlović, advisor to the Ombudswoman, as well as high school students who attended the screening.
