Following a public call for nominations of candidates for membership in the Council for Human Rights, new members have been appointed to the Council for Human Rights of the Ombudswoman Tena Šimonović Einwalter:
- Ana Horvat Vuković and Matija Miloš, as representatives of the academic community,
- Paulina Arbutina and Rosa Oršuš, as representatives of national minorities,
- Marija Udiljak and Melisa Skender, as representatives of the media, and
- Željka Leljak Gracin, as a representative of civil society.
The Council for Human Rights is an advisory body that proposes strategic guidelines to the Ombudswoman in the field of human rights and freedoms, and enhances the institution’s cooperation with civil society, the academic community, and the media. It meets at least twice a year and, in addition to these tasks, also discusses the institution’s analytical and research work and proposes ways to improve the institution’s visibility and public profile.
We congratulate the newly appointed members and are confident that the Council for Human Rights, in its new composition, will constructively contribute to the work of the Ombudswoman, and thereby to the protection and promotion of human rights in Croatia.
