As part of its promotional activities, the Office of the Ombudswoman held another human rights education session focusing on the institution’s mandate in Croatia. On 20 March 2019, Advisor to the Ombudswoman Aron Pecnik visited third- and fourth-grade students at the “GK Kraljica Jelena” Secondary School in Split, where he introduced them to the work and role of the institution, the national and international frameworks for the protection of citizens’ rights in Croatia, as well as current topics in the field of human rights.
The students showed great interest in the presented topics, particularly the rights of asylum seekers and examples of discrimination based on the Office’s casework. The Advisor also introduced both students and teachers to the ombudsman.hr website, the Office’s Vimeo channel, and Twitter profile, as important channels for accessing useful information on issues within the institution’s mandate and educational materials.
