Ombudswoman Lora Vidović met on 3 April 2019 with the FRA Director Michael O’Flaherty and discussed the potential areas of cooperation during the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union as well as the study which this Agency has been preparing on national human rights institutions in EU.
The cooperation between the Office of the Ombudswoman and FRA has been very intensive so far as through the Office chairmanship of the EQUINET and ENNHRI, as well as through common events like education on the EU Charter on Fundamental Rights for civil servants and CSO members in Croatia. Apart from that the Ombudswoman and her Deputy Tena Šimonović Einwalter were members of the FRA Management Board during past three year mandate and many employees also participated at meetings and seminars within the FRA. CoE- ENNHRI- EQUINET Platforms on different human rights topics and anti-discrimination.
Ombudswoman expressed her hope that the Croatian government would recognise the role and contribution of the national institutions of human rights and equality bodies and CSO that might have in the Croatian Presidency of the EU Council.
