On the occasion of Remembrance Day for the Victims of the Homeland War and Remembrance Day for the Victims of Vukovar and Škabrnja, marked on 18 November, we laid a wreath at the Vukovar Memorial Cemetery of the Victims of the Homeland War and paid tribute to those who lost their lives, especially those who perished in Vukovar and Škabrnja in 1991.

This commemorates the day in 1991 when the defence of Vukovar was broken and a crime against the civilian population was committed in Škabrnja. The crimes committed during the Homeland War represent the gravest violations of human rights and freedoms, and the Memorial Cemetery in Vukovar stands as a symbol of suffering and loss, being the site of the largest mass grave in Croatia since the Second World War.

The commemoration of Remembrance Day is an opportunity to honour the victims and express support for their families, as well as a reminder of the importance and value of peace and the protection of human rights.
